Brigandine II
When people with modest means needed armor, they often could not afford plate armor. If you wanted more protection than simply wearing chainmail, the best option was a leather brigandine.
Our suede leather brigandine has small steel plates riveted between the outer shell and the lining. It is very flexible, weighs only 6-lbs and does not restrict movement. Our design is 32-inches long and has three buckles on each side for great versatility in fit. Wearing a brigandine meant soldiers could easily make and repair their own armor without needing the high priced skill of a blacksmith or armorer.
Traditionally worn over a chainmail shirt and gambeson, this form of protection was in wide use with fighters from knight to archer.
