All 200 of the original Musso Bowie knives were made and then it was retired in early 2007. Due to high demand for this Bowie knife, and our personally working with the manufacturer for a year to bring it back, a limited-run of 30 special edition knives is now in development for 2008 (shipping in 1st quarter 2009).

Trying to meet demand for a historically accurate Bowie knife has been a challenge. The original Musso Bowie was one of the best primitive Bowie knives we had seen, but only had an 11-inch blade.

The improved Musso Bowie Knife (version 2) has a 14-inch blade which is slightly curved making it more historically accurate and highly sought after!

The Musso Bowie Knife design comes from a real historical Bowie knife now owned by Mr. Joseph Musso. It is believed that this version of Bowie knife is the one carried by Jim Bowie himself in the last years of his life and was the Bowie knife used in his defense of the Alamo. Since this is a true historical copy, we felt it necessary not to put any other markings other than what was on the original. Each of our Musso Bowie Knives will come with a laminated card with a brief history and stating the knife is only one of a limited number to ever be made per year.

This is and will be a highly collectible knife, but we felt that it needed to be a working knife, not just a stainless steel generic version as many are that have been made. This Bowie knife is made from 10/60 carbon steel, all hand hammered and hand ground, then highly polished, with a full tang and this blade comes with a sharp (workable) edge. The handle is made from an exotic hardwood that will last with solid brass hardware. The scabbard is wood that has been wrapped in leather with brass accents.

Each Bowie is individually numbered and year stamped on an laminated Authenticity Card. (Like the original Bowie, there are no manufacturer marking on the knife itself.)

A message from the manufacturer: There have been many knives made that are believed to be a Bowie knife. Well we want to make this one thing clear. All the G2 Bowies are based only upon those carried personally by Jim Bowie.

There has also been a lot of controversy surrounding Bowie knives. Many historians believed the first Bowie knife was made by Jim Bowie himself, and there are others who now believe it was originally made for Jim Bowie by a well known and renowned knife maker in Arkansas, James Black.

Sword Cleaning Instructions Regular use of sword cleaning kits to maintain high carbon steel swords and daggers helps prevent deterioration. (Initial cleaning of this sword is needed to remove protective coating.)
