Practical Plus Tanto (SH2259) - Classic Series

The ultimate line of Samurai katana and Japanese swords are made by Hanwei. The Practical Plus Tanto blade is especially designed for people who are new to sword cutting (untrained in formal techniques). Each sword in the Practical Plus series are handmade in the traditional ways using quality materials, pegs, high-carbon steel, master craftsmanship.

The Practical Plus Tanto (SH2259) matches our Practical Plus Katana (SH2073) and Wakizashi (SH2118). The blade is hand-forged high-carbon steel and differentially hardened using a traditional claying method (HRC 60 edge, HRC 40 spine) with a medium (chu) kissaki. The temper line (hamon) is evident and prominent. The Practical Plus Tanto uses a flat black saya and a black cotton sageo. The tsuka has genuine ray skin (same) and the tsuka-ito is black synthetic leather for better gripping qualities. The antiqued fittings on this set are decorated in a Japanese dogwood motif with a beautiful antiqued black sunburst tsuba. A great economical tanto with fantastic quality.
