Hanwei Practical Side Sword (SH2279)

The Practical Side Sword uses the same hilt as the sharp version, but carries a carbon steel sparring blade designed for safety. Side sword sparring, in both sword & buckler and sword & dagger modes is becoming increasingly popular with many proponents among the ranks of the various Renaissance societies.

This version of the Side Sword is designed for full-contact swordplay in competitions. It has a dull blade with a very rounded tip, a black sport grip, and dramatic tapering mid-blade (enlarge the photo for better view). This dramatic narrowing of the blade is done intentionally to make the blade more balanced and easier to use in live-swordplay. As well, the black sport grip is designed to not slip in your hand when fencing.
