Hanwei Sword Cleaning Kit

This is a traditional Samurai sword cleaning kit (maintenance kit) includes oil for the blade, rice papers, oiling cloth, a brass awl, hammer, a powder ball for blade polishing, and saya shimming veneer. Full maintenance and handling instructions are included. This Hanwei sword cleaning kit is contained in a nice fitted wooden box.

The primary purpose of sword oil is to prevent rusting, as low alloy carbon steel can rust from water, moisture, etc. Swords should be cleaned after touching the blade, or every 3 months when not used.

Contents of Hanwei Sword Cleaning Kit:
1. Cotton Cloth
2. Powder Ball, for applying polishing powder to blade
3. Blade oil
4. Rice Paper, for cleaning oil from blade, polishing and spreading oil on blade
5. Brass Hammer is for removing and installing bamboo pins in the grip. Although this tool is part of the kit, we strongly recommend against disassembly of swords as the bamboo pins will wear, resulting in a loosened grip.
